Today in music history in 1966- David Jones changed his name to David Bowie to avoid confusion with Davy Jones from The Monkees, just in time for his release of the single "Can't Help Thinking About Me". He would later say that he chose "Bowie" because he liked that "big American bear - killin' knife."
Allen Toussaint (1938). Known as a singer, songwriter and producer, he worked with Paul Simon, Jow Cocker, The Band, Lee Dorsey and The Neville Brothers.
Dave Grohl (1969) Most known for being the drummer of legendary band, Nirvana and the drummer and singer of The Foo Fighters. He also directed and wrote the inspiring music documentary "Sound City". If you haven't seen "Sound City", its a must watch.
