The Big Unkle is a jazz-funk & fusion band from the suburbs of Philadelphia. The Big Unkle (TBU) draws upon elements of funk, progressive jazz, world beat grooves, and rock & roll. TBU’s fuses those styles into a cultural mix of music that reinforces the power of bass, the grace of melody and the depth of rhythm and “groove”. Conceptualized in 2009, the idea of the movement called The Big Unkle was a brainchild of bassist John Henderson (formerly of rock fusion power trio, The Other Element).
Performing in scores of venues in the Philadelphia and throughout the region. In addition to their monthly appearances at Peppers in King of Prussia for the last five years, TBU has played at some of the most popular rooms in the Delaware Valley such as: WarmDaddy’s, The Trocadero, Hard Rock Cafe, Johnny Brenda's, The North Star Bar, The Fire and The Tin Angel to name a few.
TBU's commitment and connections with non-profit organizations and causes has also resulted in great experiences and many loyal fans. They believe in acknowledging and giving back to the community that supports us so faithfully.
